Frequently Asked Questions

Who will look after us on our Wedding Day?
One of the Gildings Barns Team will be with you from arrival until late afternoon when our Stewards takeover. They are
then with you until close and will guide you professionally and seamlessly through your event.

Do we have to use Gildings Barns Trusted Suppliers to Exclusive Partners?
We try to be flexible here at Gildings Barns, but we do ask that you use one of our recommended Caterers for your
wedding catering, as its one of the most important parts of the day. We ensure that we use Caterers that offer both
excellent service as well as excellent food.
You are welcome to use other suppliers for decorations, entertainment, florist, etc and we do have a number of very
professional Exclusive Partners who know our premises and business very well.

Do we have exclusive use of the Venue?
The Venue will be exclusively yours from 8am on the morning of your wedding. We will pack your belongings in a secure
container ready for collection by 10am the following morning, when the next day’s wedding party will be setting up.

Can I get ready onsite?
We do not have the facilities for the wedding party to get ready onsite.

How many guests can fit around your round tables?
Our round tables are 5ft in diameter and can seat 8/10 guests. We also have one 6ft round table which can seat 10/12
guests. Please speak to your Caterer about table plans.

How many guests can sit at a trestle table?
Our trestle tables will fit 3 guests per table. Please speak to your Caterer about table plans.

Are Tealight/Candles allowed at Gildings Barns?
Due to the timber construction of the barns we encourage use of battery operated candles. Unfortunately we cannot
allow any naked flames.

Is Confetti allowed at Gildings Barns?
We love confetti but kindly ask that your guests only use natural petals. Bubbles also make a magical alternative.

Are Sparklers allowed at Gildings Barns?
For reasons of safety we do not permit the use of sparklers and fireworks.

Can I have a Bouncy Castle?
Yes, bouncy castles are welcome!

Can I bring a dog?
The Bride & Groom are welcome to bring their well-behaved dog for the ceremony and photos by prior
agreement.

Are all guests chargeable?
Children under 3 are not included in your guest numbers for the venue hire. Please contact your Caterer for
their arrangements.

Do you have accommodation?
There are a number of quality Hotels, Airbnbs and Guest Houses in the surrounding area. Please do explore
the options to suit you and your guests.

Are guests allowed to leave their cars in the car park overnight?
Vehicles may be left on site overnight on the day of the event at the owners risk. Please arrange for them to
be removed by 10am the day after the event.

Am I allowed a drone?
As we are less than 5km from Gatwick Airport (as the crow flies) we are not legally allowed to have drones.

Is it easy to book local taxis?
Yes, we have several very good local taxi companies. However, with Gildings Barns being a rural location it is
necessary to book taxis well in advance or risk a very long wait or even be disappointed on the day. You may
choose to arrange a minibus service if a number of people are staying in hotels close by.

Can we arrange coaches/limousines to deliver our guests to Gildings Barns?
Unfortunately, Partridge Lane is not suitable for double-decker buses as there are overhanging trees. Large
coaches and extended limousines are not able to turn around as Partridge Lane is a small road with ditches
either side. Limousines can also ground on the uneven road surface. Only coaches up to 35 seater are suitable.

Do you have facilities to store our gifts and wedding cards?
We are pleased to offer the use of our lockable Royal Mail White Post Box, which is available to hire for £35,
for your guests to post their cards into upon arrival. This, along with any gifts, can be locked inside the Venue
overnight - although we recommend removing these at the end of the evening.

Can we provisionally hold a date?
Yes. We can hold a date for 7 days to enable you to consider your options and check availability for either
church or registrar. During this time, please ask as many questions as you wish. It is important that you are
100% happy with us as a venue for your big day.

Are there designated smoking areas at Gildings Barns?
There are facilities for disposing of cigarettes in The Courtyard and in the garden area. Smoking or vaping is
not permitted inside the venue.

Gildings Barns is a wonderful, picturesque, exclusive use venue and has built an excellent reputation by offering

outstanding customer service. Our staff are passionate about ensuring your wedding will be the most
memorable day of your lives.
